Boston woman arrested in connection with Ramsey Park homicide

BOSTON — Police have arrested a 40-year-old Boston woman in connection with a November homicide at Ramsey Park, authorities announced Saturday.

At about 4:45 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 20, members of the Fugitive Unit apprehended Rasheedah Hughes in the area of Hammond Street.

Hughes was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant from Roxbury District Court for the murder of Celia Simmons, 65, also of Boston.

Hughes is slated for arraignment in Roxbury District Court on Monday, Dec. 23.

The incident in question occurred at 12:48 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 16, when officers from District D-4 (South End/Back Bay) responded to reports of a stabbing at Ramsey Park, located at 1917 Washington St. Upon arrival, they found Simmons with multiple stab wounds.

She was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the stabbing.
