WESTBROOK — Police are investigating threatening messages written by a student at Westbrook High School that named several other students, officials said Wednesday.
School administrators were alerted to the threats by students and immediately contacted the Westbrook Police Department, according to a letter sent to families by Superintendent Peter Lancia and Police Capt. Steve Goldberg.
The student who allegedly wrote the messages has been taken into protective custody.
Police obtained a weapons restriction order against the student, though no weapons were found in their possession.
“WPD has informed us that there is no imminent danger to any individuals or to our school community,” the letter stated.
Families of students named in the threatening messages are being contacted, and support is available through the school’s student services team.
Lancia and Goldberg praised the quick action of students and staff in reporting the incident and following emergency response procedures.
