SWANTON — Vermont State Police arrested a Highgate man on suspicion of driving under the influence following a vehicle slide-off on Interstate 89 Friday evening.
Jed Bertrand, 33, was taken into custody after troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle off the road near mile marker 122 on northbound I-89 in Swanton at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2024.
According to police, Bertrand showed signs of impairment during the initial investigation.
He was transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing.
Authorities said Bertrand refused to submit to a breath test.
This marks his second alleged DUI offense.
Bertrand was released with a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 14 to face a charge of DUI refusal, second offense.
The incident remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
