ESSEX — A 16-year-old male was arrested Thursday afternoon following a 45-minute foot chase through wooded areas after allegedly fleeing from a stolen vehicle.
Essex Police were notified of a stolen vehicle operating near Pearl Street around 3:06 p.m. Dec. 19.
Officers initially lost sight of the vehicle, but it was later spotted in Colchester heading back toward Essex on Route 2A.
A Chittenden County Sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle at the intersection of Susie Wilson Bypass and Route 2A.
The driver pulled over and fled on foot, leading officers on a chase through woods before being apprehended near Gauthier Drive in Essex.
The juvenile suspect, from Essex, was taken into custody by Colchester Police.
Multiple agencies assisted in the pursuit, including Colchester Police, Williston Police, Department of Motor Vehicles Law Enforcement, Chittenden County Sheriff’s Department and Vermont Game Wardens.
The incident remains under investigation, as the vehicle may be connected to criminal activities in neighboring towns.
