NASHUA — A head-on collision between a school bus and a passenger vehicle on Tinker Road near Damper Circle left one person injured Tuesday morning.
Nashua Fire Rescue responded to the accident at 6:49 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.
Upon arrival, first responders found the driver of the passenger vehicle had self-extricated and was sitting in the roadway.
The school bus was carrying one student, who was uninjured.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The student was released to a parent at the scene.
Fire officials dispatched two engines, one ladder truck, and several specialized units, including the Special Hazards team to manage a large volume of fluids leaking from both vehicles.
In total, 20 Nashua Fire Rescue personnel responded to the incident.
Tinker Road was temporarily closed for cleanup and vehicle removal.
Fire officials remind drivers that even when air temperatures are above freezing, road surfaces can remain at or below freezing, causing wet roadways to ice over quickly.
They advise reducing speeds and allowing for greater stopping distances.
