Rhode Island State Police make multiple arrests for assault, DUI, and forgery

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police have announced a series of arrests following separate incidents, including a road rage altercation and traffic stops in various locations.

At 9:35 a.m., Troopers apprehended Brian Pavao, 35, of Johnston, for felony assault by use of devices similar to a firearm after responding to a road rage incident on Route 195 West at the Washington Bridge.

Pavao was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing and later brought to the Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.

Later that evening, at 11:22 p.m., Marc Jean, 24, of Pawtucket, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I to V controlled substance, specifically less than 10 grams of ecstasy, and forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates.

This arrest occurred following a vehicle stop on Route 95 North at Broadway Street.

Jean was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and later arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, released on a summons to appear at a future court date.

In the early hours, at 1:52 a.m., Elias Fernandez, 44, of Cranston, was taken into custody for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs (first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test (first offense), obstructing an officer in the execution of duty, and reckless driving.

The arrest was made after a stop on Broadway Street in Providence.

Fernandez was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult.

Finally, at 4:00 a.m., Alioune Sylla, 37, of Lincoln, was arrested for forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates and giving false documents to public officials.

Sylla’s arrest followed a vehicle stop on Dexter Street in Providence.

He was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing and was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, released pending a future court appearance.
