BELCHERTOWN — A 27-year-old Belchertown man was found dead Thursday morning in a wooded area, two days after he was last seen by family members.
The body was discovered following an extensive search effort involving Belchertown Police and Fire Departments, State Police Detectives from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Air Wing unit, and the Special Emergency Response Team.
Search operations began Wednesday afternoon and continued into the evening, resuming Thursday morning.
Crews utilized foot patrols, helicopters, and drones to scour the area.
Authorities do not suspect foul play in the man’s death.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact the Belchertown Police Department.
