WORCESTER — Worcester Police officers arrested a man accused of committing an unarmed robbery and assault on a woman on Lincoln Street last Saturday.

At approximately 1 p.m., police were called to 610 Lincoln St. to support Massachusetts State Police dealing with a reported fight.

There, officers encountered 51-year-old David Cariglio of Auburn being restrained by a state trooper.

The trooper reported seeing Cariglio on top of a woman in the street.

Further investigation by the officers suggested that Cariglio had demanded money from the woman before pulling her onto the roadway, striking her, and stealing her money and personal items.

Cariglio was taken into custody and is facing charges for unarmed robbery and assault and battery.

The woman involved in the incident did not seem to have sustained serious injuries.
