Springfield man arrested as fugitive from justice

SPRINGFIELD — A man wanted on a felony arrest warrant out of New Hampshire was apprehended Thursday morning by local police.

Springfield officers located Derrill Bunker, 40, of Barton, walking on Spring Street at approximately 9:35 a.m. A check with dispatch confirmed the outstanding extraditable warrant for Bunker.

Without incident, Bunker was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing.

He was issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Dec. 2 to respond to the charge of being a fugitive from justice.

Following his arrest, Bunker was held at the Southern State Correctional Facility with bail set at $10,000 cash or surety.

The Springfield Police Department clarified that decisions regarding bail and incarceration are determined by the Judicial System, which includes judges, court clerks, and the State Attorney’s Office.
