Scarborough traffic stop leads to drug, firearms seizure

SCARBOROUGH — A routine traffic stop by the Scarborough Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit on Dec. 16 led to the seizure of various drugs, cash, and firearms, including one reported stolen.

At around 12:30 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle departing a local hotel suspected of being connected to drug trafficking.

A K9 unit was brought to the scene and signaled the presence of drugs.

A search revealed methamphetamine, fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, $8,000, and two firearms, one stolen from New Hampshire.

Wayne Nigro, 42, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, faced multiple charges, including aggravated trafficking and possession of illegal firearms.

Cassandra Thibodeau, 27, of Candia, New Hampshire, was also charged with drug trafficking.

Both suspects were taken into custody, and Sergeant Andrew Flynn prepared the media release.
