Lewiston police investigate shooting at Walnut and Pierce, one in critical condition

LEWISTON — Lewiston Police swiftly responded to a shooting at the intersection of Walnut and Pierce streets just before 3 p.m. today, where multiple shots were reportedly fired.

Officers, who were nearby and heard the gunfire, arrived on scene within moments.

They immediately began searching for the individuals involved, as witnesses claimed all parties involved had fled the area following the shooting.

During their search, police found a male victim with a serious gunshot wound.

First aid was promptly administered, and the victim was rushed to Central Maine Medical Center in a police cruiser.

The victim was reported to be in critical condition upon arrival at the hospital.

The area on Walnut Street between Pierce and Bartlett streets has been closed as investigators work to collect evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided to the public as more details emerge.
