RUTLAND — A burglary occurred early Tuesday morning when a suspect used a stolen dump truck to smash into the Sunoco convenience store, Vermont State Police reported.
The incident happened at approximately 2:33 a.m. at the Sunoco on Main Street.
Authorities were alerted by an alarm and upon arrival, they discovered the store’s front entrance had been breached by a 2022 red Ford dump truck.
The vehicle, reported stolen from the Dorset area before the burglary, was used by the unidentified suspect to gain access to the store.
After crashing into the building, the suspect is believed to have stolen various items from inside.
State Police are actively seeking the public’s help to identify the operator of the dump truck and to recover the vehicle.
