Three-vehicle crash in Dummerston leads to DUI citation

DUMMERSTON — A three-vehicle collision on US Route 5 near Houghton Road resulted in two drivers hospitalized and one cited for DUI on Dec. 13.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident at about 3:51 p.m., where preliminary findings indicated that Luke R. Eltringham, 28, of Vernon, Connecticut, rear-ended a car operated by Emma K. Yeo, 28, of Brattleboro.

The impact forced Yeo’s vehicle into the rear of a Ford Explorer driven by Alyssa Dix, 29, of Whitingham.

Eltringham and Yeo were taken to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with Eltringham suffering minor injuries and Yeo sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Dix reported no injuries.

According to officials, Eltringham showed several signs of impairment at the scene.

He was processed for driving under the influence (DUI) and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham County, Criminal Division on Feb. 4 at 8:30 a.m.

The collision resulted in Eltringham’s Toyota truck and Yeo’s Volkswagen Jetta being totaled, while Dix’s 2023 Ford Explorer suffered moderate rear-end damage.
