BATH — Bath Police Department has closed local schools today following a third-hand report of unspecified statements related to school safety.
The vague threat, received early this morning, prompted the department to take precautionary measures while the validity of the report is assessed.
Chief Andrew Booth stated that although they are skeptical of the report’s credibility, they are erring on the side of caution in coordination with the Regional School Unit 1 superintendent.
Parents and students were notified of the closures without delay.
Police are actively investigating the matter and have urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid their efforts.
