HANOVER — Shortly after 1 a.m., emergency crews from Hanover and Norwell responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 3 South, where a car was found overturned in the woods down a steep embankment.
Massachusetts State Police and Hanover Fire Department located the vehicle, with Hanover firefighters employing chainsaws to cut through the wooded area for access.
Extrication tools were used to free an individual trapped inside the car.
Norwell Fire Department was able to reach the scene from High Street, cutting through a chain-link fence to assist.
The patient was then transferred to Norwell Ambulance 9 and taken to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
Concurrently, Hanover Ambulance 2 attended a second medical emergency, prompting the call for all off-duty Hanover Fire Department personnel to return to service to manage the simultaneous incidents.
