STAMFORD — A serious two-vehicle collision late Thursday night left two drivers with significant but non-life-threatening injuries and prompted an investigation by the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
The incident occurred on Dec. 12 at approximately 10:34 p.m. on High Ridge Rd., near the intersection with Cedarwood Dr.
According to authorities, a 2008 Chevy Suburban driven by a 55-year-old Stamford resident was heading south when it crossed the centerline and entered the northbound lane.
The Suburban collided with the front left side of a northbound 2019 Cadillac SUV, driven by an 88-year-old New York resident.
The impact redirected the Cadillac onto Cedarwood Rd., where it came to a stop.
The Suburban spun and stopped facing northbound on High Ridge Rd.
The Stamford Fire Department had to extricate both drivers from their heavily damaged vehicles.
The injured were transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS.
Initial assessments at the scene suggested critical injuries, but hospital evaluations later revealed the injuries were severe but not life-threatening.
High Ridge Rd. was closed for several hours for the investigation and cleanup but has since reopened.
Investigators, led by Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, are continuing to look into the crash.
The Stamford Police Department is asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at (203) 977-4712.
