Teen escapes injury in single-vehicle crash

PITTSFORD — An 18-year-old Bennington man escaped injury Thursday afternoon after his vehicle struck guidewires of a utility pole on US RT 7.

The teen was driving a 2014 Acura MDX southbound near 2580 US RT 7 when he crossed the double yellow centerlines and exited the east side of the road, Vermont State Police reported.

The incident occurred at about 1:43 p.m. under cloudy skies with dry road conditions.

The driver managed to avoid injury despite moderate damage to the front left corner of the vehicle.

He came to an uncontrolled rest after the collision with the utility pole’s guidewires.

Authorities, including the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks, Pittsford Fire Department, Regional Ambulance Service, and Green Mountain Power, responded to the scene.
