READING — A Reading man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly assaulting a Vermont State Police trooper responding to an emergency call.
State police said they received a 911 hang-up call from a residence on Vermont Route 106 in Reading at approximately 7:42 p.m. Upon arrival, troopers began an investigation into the incident.
While speaking with 66-year-old Michael Scully of Reading, the situation escalated, and Scully reportedly became assaultive toward one of the troopers.
He was taken into custody and transported to Southern State Correctional Facility, where he was held until he could sober up.
Scully has been issued a criminal citation for assault on law enforcement.
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured during the altercation.
