FORT FAIRFIELD — A Presque Isle man has been indicted on multiple drug trafficking charges in connection with the overdose deaths of two Fort Fairfield residents earlier this year, officials said Thursday.
Landon Larsen, 44, faces two counts of Class A felony aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs resulting in death, along with additional trafficking and possession charges, according to a release from Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew E. Cummings.
The Aroostook County Grand Jury handed down the indictment on Dec. 12, following an extensive investigation into the March 30 deaths of Troy Theriault, 52, and Krissy Taggett, 41.
Police discovered the pair unresponsive in their home the next day.
Autopsies by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner attributed the fatalities to an overdose of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The subsequent probe led by Cummings, with assistance from Fort Fairfield Police Officer Isaac Wipperman, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security, focused on the distribution of these illegal substances.
Larsen, who is currently held on unrelated charges, will face arraignment at the Aroostook County Unified Criminal Court.
The date for Larsen’s court appearance has yet to be determined.
The Fort Fairfield Police Department continues its efforts to combat the sale and distribution of illegal drugs and underscores the dangers such substances pose to the community.
