NEWPORT — A Newport woman faces multiple charges after allegedly forcing a 16-year-old to regularly consume a mixture of household detergent and alcohol, police said.
Fawn-Marie Hall, 36, was arrested early Friday after officers responded to a disturbance on Pleasant Street around 12:01 a.m. Police said Hall had thrown an alcoholic beverage at a neighbor during an argument.
During the investigation, officers learned Hall had been making the juvenile ingest the dangerous mixture almost daily. The product was labeled as not safe for consumption.
Hall was charged with assault, cruelty to a child, first-degree aggravated domestic assault, and violation of Vermont statute. She is being held without bail pending arraignment Friday afternoon in Orleans County Criminal Court.
The teenager was evaluated at a local hospital and later released. The Department of Children and Families has been notified.
