Oakland man arrested after standoff with police

OAKLAND — Maine State Police successfully ended a standoff with an Oakland man on Tuesday morning, taking him into custody on multiple charges including domestic violence and creating a police standoff.

Authorities were called to the scene in Palermo after a woman reported her ex-partner, 45-year-old Jason Grant, had threatened to harm her and others in her residence.

Responding to the incident, State Police Troopers, Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Oakland Police Officers arrived at Grant’s Ayer Street home around 6 a.m.

After hours of negotiation, the Maine State Police Tactical Team and Negotiators managed to apprehend Grant without incident.

He has been charged with Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening, Domestic Violence Terrorizing, Violating Conditions of Release, and Creating a Police Standoff.

Grant is currently being held without bail at Waldo County Jail.

The Maine State Police acknowledged the assistance provided by the Oakland Police Department, Oakland Fire and Rescue, and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department during the operation.
