TOPSFIELD — A suspect was arrested Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, after allegedly breaking into a home on Dover Hill Road in Topsfield, police said.
Topsfield police responded to a report of an intruder inside a residence in the morning hours.
Officers quickly established a perimeter with assistance from Wenham, Boxford, and Ipswich police departments.
A K9 unit from Amesbury Police, named Meatball, was called to track the suspect.
The K9 led officers to a location behind a home on Hickory Lane, where the suspect surrendered without incident.
Philip Johnson was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime, trespassing, defacing property, and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned at Ipswich District Court.
Topsfield Police Department expressed gratitude to their mutual aid partners for their assistance in the swift apprehension of the suspect.
