Brownington man arrested for domestic assault, violating court order

BROWNINGTON — A local man was arrested Monday morning on charges of domestic assault and violating a relief from abuse order, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers responded to a domestic dispute call at a residence on Powwow Lane at about 10:20 a.m. After an investigation, they determined that Ryan Stroop, 35, had caused pain or bodily injury to a family or household member.

Stroop, a Brownington resident, was taken into custody and brought to the Derby Barracks for processing.

A judicial officer issued conditions of release for Stroop, who has been cited to appear at the Orleans Superior Court – Criminal Division on Dec. 6 at 12:30 p.m.

The identity of the victim has not been released by the Vermont State Police, in accordance with policies regarding cases of sexual assault or domestic violence.
