Boston man fatally shot, 2 suspects arrested

BOSTON — A man was fatally shot Monday night in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, leading to the arrest of two suspects following a foot chase, police said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at 114 Devon Street around 10:24 p.m. They found a male victim with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives reviewed area surveillance footage and broadcast descriptions of two suspects to officers.

Police spotted two individuals matching the descriptions leaving an alley behind 270 Columbia Road.

The suspects fled but were apprehended after a brief pursuit.

Officers recovered two firearms along the suspects’ flight path.

Darius Powell, 25, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and Daiquan Miller, 25, of Dorchester, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device.

They are expected to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Dorchester District Court.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating.
