Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into tree in Burke

BURKE — A single-vehicle crash led to a DUI arrest after a driver struck a tree on US Route 5 late Sunday evening.

Vermont State Police responded to reports of the crash at 10:17 p.m. and discovered that Herrara Castellanos, 35, of Burke, had driven his vehicle head-on into a tree.

No injuries were reported as Castellanos and passengers refused medical services offered by EMS at the scene.

During the investigation, troopers observed signs of impairment and conducted field sobriety tests on Castellanos.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.

Castellanos is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on Dec. 30 at 8:30 a.m. to face DUI charges.
