BOSTON — A man was arrested following a stabbing on Cambridge Street in Brighton, as Boston Police Department officials reported on Thursday.
At approximately 5:58 p.m., officers from District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) rushed to 479 Cambridge Street after receiving a call about a stabbing.
They found a male victim with multiple stab wounds.
The police provided immediate medical attention until Boston EMS arrived and transported the man to a nearby hospital.
His injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Investigators learned that the suspect had exited his vehicle, confronted the victim in his vehicle, and the exchange escalated into a physical altercation.
Information from the Transit Police revealed that an MBTA bus was present during the incident, capturing footage of the suspect on its camera system.
The suspect’s vehicle was seen heading towards North Beacon Street.
A description of the suspect and the vehicle was widely disseminated among law enforcement.
Following further inquiries, detectives linked the suspect to a previous road rage incident with the same victim on December 3.
Later, the Massachusetts State Police spotted the suspect’s vehicle on Storrow Drive.
Officers from the State Police in coordination with District D-4 (South End) successfully intercepted and stopped the vehicle at Clarendon Street and Back Street.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old John Burgo from Brockton, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery.
Burgo is slated for arraignment at Brighton District Court.
