MANCHESTER — A high-speed police pursuit through the streets of Manchester ended abruptly when the fleeing vehicle became stuck on train tracks late Thursday night.
Manchester Police, patrolling the area of Auburn and Union Streets, attempted to stop a vehicle driving erratically around 9:45 p.m. The driver, refusing to heed police signals, sped away at speeds reaching 50 mph and ran several traffic lights.
Officers, citing safety concerns, terminated the chase near Auburn and Elm Streets.
Despite the halted pursuit, the driver continued at high speed, entering the NBT Bank parking lot before driving onto nearby train tracks.
The vehicle eventually got trapped on the tracks between Pleasant and Bedford Streets.
The driver, later identified as 33-year-old David Previe from Raymond, abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended by responding officers.
Previe, a convicted felon who was arrested a week prior for possession of a loaded firearm, was found carrying a small quantity of fentanyl at the time of this arrest.
Previe faces multiple charges including Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Drug, Disobeying an Officer, and Traffic Control Device Violation.
Following his arrest, Previe was placed on preventative detention pending further hearings.
