Boston man arrested on drug trafficking charges

BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Citywide Drug Control Unit arrested a man in Dorchester on Wednesday for trafficking fentanyl and crack cocaine.

At about 1 p.m., officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation near Dudley Street and Columbia Road.

They observed a group of three individuals who appeared to be engaging in a drug transaction.

After the group dispersed, police approached two of the individuals and found a plastic bag of fentanyl.

Later, officers stopped an MBTA bus on Allstate Road where they detained and handcuffed the second suspect, identified as Jose Martinez, 30, of Everett.

A search incident to the arrest led to the discovery of more fentanyl, crack cocaine, and approximately $1,440 in cash.

The seized drugs weighed in at about 15 grams of fentanyl and 23 grams of crack cocaine.

Martinez is charged with trafficking of Class A fentanyl, trafficking of Class B crack cocaine, and distribution of Class A fentanyl.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
