WORCESTER — Officers from the Worcester Police Crime Gun Intelligence Unit and Gang Unit recovered a loaded handgun and fentanyl during a search warrant execution at a Main St apartment on Dec. 4.
The warrant, part of an active firearms investigation, led officers to detain 46-year-old Omar DeJesus Roman outside the building’s elevator at around 5 p.m. Upon searching Roman, officers found fentanyl in his possession.
Further investigation inside Roman’s apartment revealed a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number.
Roman was subsequently arrested and is facing multiple charges, including Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Removal or Mutilation of Serial Number of Firearms, Possession of a Class A Substance (fentanyl), and Armed Career Criminal Level 2.
The Worcester Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
