RUTLAND — A 24-year-old man was arrested late Friday night after allegedly breaking into a residence, violating an abuse prevention order, and attempting to flee from police.
State Police responded to a call at a home on Clarendon Avenue in West Rutland around 9:30 p.m. where Joshua Alger reportedly forced entry into the residence.
Before troopers arrived on the scene, it was reported that Alger had entered the home by breaking open the door.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female victim and discovered Alger hiding in a separate room.
When confronted, Alger ran out the front door in an attempt to evade arrest.
After a short foot chase, he was apprehended and taken to the State Police Barracks in Rutland.
Alger now faces charges including Violation of Conditions of Release, Violation of Abuse Prevention Order, Escape, Impeding, and Unlawful Trespass into a residence.
Following his arrest, Alger was lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000.
