Poultney man arrested for Maplefields restroom vandalism

FAIR HAVEN — A Poultney man was arrested on charges of unlawful mischief after Fair Haven police responded to a vandalism incident at a local Maplefields convenience store.

On Dec. 4, police took Andrew S. Clement, 31, into custody following a report of loud noises and yelling coming from the store’s restroom the previous evening.

Employees of the Maplefields on Main Street called authorities at around 6 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Officers encountered Clement as he was leaving the restroom.

Store staff directed Clement to leave the premises, and an investigation ensued.

Police allege that Clement caused approximately $990 in damages to the facility.

After being interviewed, Clement admitted to his involvement in the vandalism.

He was subsequently arrested and has been issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court to respond to the charge.
