Enfield police arrest three in retail theft crackdown

ENFIELD — A joint operation between the Enfield Community Police Officers (CPO) and the Connecticut State Police retail theft task force led to the arrest of three individuals on charges of shoplifting and other related crimes.

The planned operation, which took place on May 12, aimed to combat retail theft in Enfield’s shopping district.

Law enforcement worked in collaboration with several stores’ loss prevention teams to catch shoplifters in the act.

Calvin Crumpton, 61, of Hartford, faces charges of sixth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Julia Thomas, 39, from Springfield, Massachusetts, has been charged with sixth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device, two counts of first-degree forgery, and two counts of failure to appear in the second degree related to separate PRAWN warrants.

Luis Martin, 35, of Enfield, was also arrested for sixth-degree larceny.

The Enfield Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Alaric J.

Fox, continues to address retail theft aggressively and collaborates with state agencies to ensure the safety and security of the business community.
