BRENTWOOD — A routine traffic stop escalated into a brief car chase and the arrest of a suspect on multiple drug and firearm charges, police said.

Cpl. Spitalere, on patrol, attempted to pull over a vehicle for traffic infractions when the driver failed to comply, leading to a short pursuit that ended peacefully.

The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

An investigation led by Cpl. Spitalere resulted in the seizure of the vehicle and the procurement of a search warrant.

Ofc. Kelly, with the assistance of K9 Maggie, conducted a thorough search of the car, discovering a substantial amount of illegal substances.

The accused now faces several charges, including multiple counts of possession of a controlled drug, possession with intent to sell, transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of prescription narcotics, and felonious use of a firearm.

Authorities believe the drugs retrieved are cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine.

The ongoing investigation is being handled by the Brentwood Police Department.
