Portland police arrest suspect in Marshall Street homicide

PORTLAND — On Saturday, Nov. 30 at 5:35 p.m., Portland Police responded to a call at 24 Marshall Street where they found the body of 43-year-old Matthew Merrick of Portland.

Following an autopsy on Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, Merrick’s death was ruled a homicide.

In a swift response to the investigation, Portland Police apprehended 48-year-old Domingus Nobrega of Portland on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Scarborough Walmart.

Nobrega has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.
