Elderly driver dies in Enosburg crash on icy road

ENOSBURG — An 86-year-old Middlebury man was killed Monday morning when his pickup truck collided with a telephone pole on Stonehouse Rd.

Vermont State Police responded to the scene at 10:09 a.m. amid snowfall and icy road conditions.

The red 2022 Ford F-350 suffered total front-end damage, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported with fatal injuries.

The victim was initially taken by Enosburgh Ambulance Service to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans and then transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he later died.

Authorities have not released the driver’s name as they await notification of next of kin.

Investigators are seeking information from witnesses as they work to determine the cause of the crash.
