BOSTON — At about 5 p.m. on Monday, members of the Drug Control Unit assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) arrested Jonathan Mejia, 28, of Roslindale, on firearm charges following an ongoing drug investigation on Bennington Street.

While monitoring a parked vehicle suspected in the drug investigation, officers observed an unknown male enter the passenger seat carrying a bag.

After the passenger left approximately five minutes later, officers pursued the vehicle and executed a traffic stop at the entrance of the Ted Williams Tunnel.

Upon contact with the driver, identified as Mejia, officers noted his suspicious behavior, as he repeatedly dropped his left hand to his side.

A pat frisk was conducted after Mejia was asked to exit the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a Glock 43 with a chambered round and five additional rounds in the magazine in his left jacket pocket.

Officers also seized approximately $4,486 in U.S. Currency.

Mejia faces charges including Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm.

He is set to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
