BOSTON — A South Boston Drug Control Unit operation led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Dorchester man on drug and firearm charges Monday evening, according to Boston Police Department officials.

At about 5:35 p.m., officers from District C-6 were conducting a drug investigation in the area of Logan Way.

They observed Steven Williams-Tylerbest, who had multiple warrants for his arrest, enter and then exit an apartment building at 10 Logan Way before entering the back seat of a vehicle that soon left the area.

Police stopped the vehicle at 491 Old Colony Avenue, where Williams-Tylerbest reportedly reached for his waistband and resisted arrest when officers attempted to remove him from the car.

Upon restraining Williams-Tylerbest, officers found he was carrying a stolen Glock 19 with a round in the chamber and 22 rounds in the magazine.

A subsequent search also revealed a plastic bag containing about five grams of cocaine, two bags of fentanyl weighing approximately ten grams, and $214 in cash.

Williams-Tylerbest was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, trafficking of Class A, possession with intent to distribute Class B, receiving stolen property under $1,200, resisting arrest, and armed career criminal 2.

He is expected to face these charges at his arraignment in South Boston District Court.
