ROYALTON — At about 12:29 p.m. on Dec. 1, a chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles occurred on Interstate 89 southbound at mile marker 22, according to the Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks.
Brin Shea, 20, of Hooksett, New Hampshire, was driving a 2019 Toyota RAV-4 when she diverted her attention from the road and collided with the rear of a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by Emily Delorie, 30, of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The impact caused Delorie’s vehicle to subsequently strike a 2012 Ford F-150, operated by 72-year-old Russell McNally of Deep River, Connecticut.
Both Shea and Delorie were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident and were evaluated on the scene by emergency medical services for minor injuries.
McNally was also wearing his seat belt and did not sustain any injuries.
The RAV-4 driven by Shea was totaled due to the front-end damage, while Delorie’s Crosstrek sustained rear-end damage.
McNally’s F-150 suffered minor rear-end damage.
The crash occurred under clear skies with dry road conditions.
The Vermont State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Traffic was affected for a short period while the vehicles were cleared, and the scene was made safe.
