Arlington teen found safe after search in woods

ARLINGTON — Vermont State Police reported the safe recovery of a 14-year-old hunter from Sunderland who went missing in the woods near South Road and Butternut Gutter.

Officials said they were notified of the lost juvenile at approximately 5:23 p.m. on Nov. 30.

A command post was promptly established to facilitate joint operations between law enforcement and local emergency services.

Members of the Arlington Fire Department, assisted by other responders, initiated a search and successfully located the young hunter.

The teenager was escorted out of the wooded area without harm.

After being safely brought out, the juvenile was assessed by Northshire Rescue and subsequently released to the care of a family member.

No further details regarding the incident have been released at this time.
