NEWPORT — Northsong, a 42-member choir based in Newport, will present its annual Christmas concerts December 6 and 8 at the United Church of Newport, continuing a tradition that has marked the start of the holiday season for four decades.
The program features John Rutter’s “Magnificat,” with solos by Martha Peck, Zoe Yarnall and Liz McElhaney.
The seven-movement work is based on the Canticle of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The choir, conducted by Anne K. Hamilton and accompanied by Vivian Spates, will also perform seasonal carols including “I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In,” “People Look East,” and “Jingle Bells.”
Performances are scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested for admission.
