HARTLAND — A single-vehicle crash late last night has led to DUI charges for a Massachusetts man, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers from the Royalton Barracks responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Hartland Hill Road and Town Farm Hill Rd at 1:43 a.m.
Brent Allard, 42, of Shutesbury, MA, had already left the scene when authorities arrived, having been given a ride to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Office in Woodstock by a passerby.
Upon making contact with Allard at the sheriff’s office, troopers observed signs of impairment.
Their investigation concluded that Allard was operating his vehicle under the influence of intoxicants when the crash occurred.
Allard, who sustained injuries in the crash, was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center by Woodstock Ambulance.
He has been issued a citation to appear before the Windsor County Superior Court – Criminal Division at a future date and time to face the DUI charge.
