Dover police face standoff with armed individual on Claybrook Road

DOVER — Dover Police officers responded at 11 a.m. to a call regarding an unwanted person on Claybrook Road.

Chief Joseph P. Vinci reported that upon arrival, the officers encountered a male subject armed with a knife.

The individual, whose identity has not been released, subsequently barricaded himself inside a residence.

Officers on the scene retreated and made attempts to deescalate the situation.

To assist with the evolving situation, the Dover Police Department requested mutual aid resources.

The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (Metrolec) also responded to the scene to provide support.

The standoff is still active, and authorities are continuing their efforts to safely resolve the incident.

Residents in the area are being advised to stay clear of the location until further notice.
