NORTON — A serious motor vehicle accident early Thursday morning resulted in significant injury to a driver and damage to local infrastructure.
At about 1:36 a.m., Norton Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene at 95 North Washington Street after a vehicle veered off the road, colliding with a utility pole and a tree.
The extent of the damage required emergency services to remain at the location for around four hours.
The injured driver was swiftly transported to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance for urgent medical care.
Crews from power and utility companies were also summoned to address and repair the damaged telephone pole.
