Providence man arrested on bench warrant for assault charge

PROVIDENCE — Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks apprehended 56-year-old Britt Benford of Providence on Nov. 27 at 9:59 a.m. on a bench warrant for failing to appear at a violation hearing.

The original charges included Assault with Intent to Commit Specified Felonies, as per the Providence Police Department.

The arrest ensued following a vehicle stop on Cranston Street, Providence.

Benford was processed at Lincoln Woods Barracks and later taken to Providence Superior Court for his arraignment.

In a separate incident on Nov. 28 at 1:16 a.m., Michael Earle, 40, from Warwick, was arrested for driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test after being stopped on Route 95 in Cranston.

Earle was processed in the B.A.T. Mobile and released, pending an arraignment at the Third Division District Court.
