HILLSBORO — A routine arrest escalated into a violent confrontation on Nov. 27, leaving two Hillsboro police officers hospitalized after they attempted to apprehend a local man on an outstanding warrant.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred on Church Street when officers approached 46-year-old Michael Manley.
Upon contact, Manley assaulted a female officer, necessitating her immediate transport by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The situation intensified when Manley attacked a male officer, leaving him semi-conscious.
The injured officer was also taken to the hospital by ambulance.
To subdue Manley, two additional Hillsboro officers deployed their tasers, which enabled them to handcuff the suspect.
Despite being restrained, Manley continued to be combative, assaulting a Deering police officer before he was finally secured in a police cruiser.
Manley, a Hillsboro resident, is currently held at the Hillsborough County House of Correction.
His arraignment is set for Friday.
He faces multiple charges, including two counts of 2nd Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault with Extreme Indifference, Resisting Arrest resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, two additional counts of Resisting Arrest, three counts of Simple Assault on a Police Officer, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
