HARTLAND — A local man faces grand larceny charges after allegedly using an excavator to steal a large landscaping rock from a neighbor’s property, Vermont State Police said.
Mitchell Beland, 66, is accused of taking the rock, valued between $1,000 and $1,600, from the yard of Michelle Nilsson, 58, also of Hartland.
The incident was reported to the Royalton Barracks at 9:21 a.m. on Oct. 30.
Police said Nilsson called to report the missing rock a few days after it was taken from her property.
An investigation confirmed that Beland had entered Nilsson’s property with an excavator and removed the rock.
Beland was processed at the Royalton Barracks on Nov. 27 and was cited and released on the charge of grand larceny.
