NASHUA — A woman was taken to an area hospital after the pickup she was driving ended up in the Merrimack River following a crash.
State Troopers assigned to the Troop B barracks responded to a crash on Circumferential Highway in Nashua just before 3 p.m. today, where it was reported that a vehicle was in the river.
The preliminary investigation has determined that a white 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck was involved in a collision with another vehicle while changing lanes, then struck a guardrail on the left side of Circumferential Highway westbound.
The pickup continued over the guardrail and rolled down an embankment in the median, between the two sides of the highway, before entering the Merrimack River where it stopped right-side up.
The driver of the pickup, identified as Danielle Melanson, 30, of Merrimack, was able to get out of the truck on her own while the vehicle was partially submerged.
She was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Multiple lanes were closed on the westbound side of the Sagamore Bridge while the pickup was removed from the river.
Troopers were assisted in the removal of the vehicle from the river by members of Nashua Fire Rescue, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, and Kent’s Towing and Recovery.
All aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
