Woman charged with DWI after wrong-way I-93 drive in Sandbornton

SANBORNTON — A Massachusetts woman was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly driving under the influence and recklessly handling a deadly weapon after she drove the wrong way on Interstate 93.

State Police dispatch received reports just before 1 a.m. today, about a car traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-93, beginning near Ashland.

Witnesses described the vehicle speeding in the left lane, heading south.

A Sanbornton Police Department officer located and stopped the vehicle.

Trooper Benjamin Olmstead arrived on the scene, conducted an investigation, and arrested Grace E. Dionne, 22, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Dionne faces charges of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated.

Following the arrest, Dionne was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Franklin District Court at a later date.

At the scene, State Troopers received assistance from the Sanbornton Police Department and Rusty’s Towing & Recovery.

Authorities are seeking additional information from witnesses.
