GREENLAND — A suspect was arrested in Massachusetts today after a high-speed chase that began in New Hampshire, according to State Police.
The pursuit started around 11:30 a.m. when the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Troop A barracks and the State Police airplane, initiated a traffic enforcement operation on Interstate 95 in response to hazardous driving and recent crashes.
Trooper Samuel Provenza, monitoring traffic from the aircraft, spotted a dark-colored vehicle speeding over 100 mph.
Trooper First Class Scott Garton tried to stop the vehicle on the ground, but the driver accelerated and fled southbound, weaving through traffic and using the breakdown lane to overtake other vehicles.
The State Police aircraft followed the vehicle into Massachusetts, where local State Police joined the effort.
The pursuit was eventually called off due to safety concerns, but shortly after, the vehicle crashed near Exit 76B after the driver failed to manage a curve.
The adult male driver, whose identity is still under investigation, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Authorities are preparing criminal charges in both states, with further details to be disclosed when available.
