SOMERVILLE — Police in Somerville have been responding to a series of residential break-ins, a bomb threat, and other crimes over the past week, resulting in two arrests.
On Nov. 21 at 8:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Kennedy School after receiving a report of a bomb threat.
A thorough search of the school and surrounding area yielded no suspicious individuals or devices.
The prior evening, Nov. 20, at 10:20 p.m., police responded to a break-in on Horace Street.
The resident reported hearing footsteps and a door close downstairs, but no possessions were found missing upon the officers’ inspection.
In the afternoon of Nov. 21, at around 1:57 p.m., another break-in on Hathorn Street ended in an arrest.
The suspect, a female, was accused of forcibly kicking in a door and was apprehended by police nearby.
On Nov. 23 at 12:02 p.m., a resident on Medford Street reported a confrontation that involved an unknown male forcefully entering and yelling before leaving the premise when the resident shut the door.
A repeat incident occurred on Warwick Street, where a resident discovered their front door pried open at 7:48 a.m. on Nov. 25.
The same property had been targeted a few days earlier, resulting in the theft of several shower heads.
Another arrest followed an unusual break-in on Governor Winthrop Road on Nov. 22 at 9:12 p.m. The suspect allegedly sawed through a wall to enter the victim’s apartment, assaulting the resident before being caught and arrested by police.
Additionally, Somerville police have noted other criminal activities including four package thefts, three car break-ins, two motor vehicle thefts, four motor vehicle vandalisms, and one vandalism.
The police department continues to investigate these incidents and urges the community to report any suspicious activity.
